Cobalt-Chromium

Low and high carbon cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloys (commonly called Cobalt-Chromium) for medical applications.
Cobalt Chromium (Co Cr28 Mo6) according to ASTM F1537 and ISO 5832-12. Implantable grade available in bars in diameters 8, 14, 22.2, 27, 29, 33, 37, 39, 43, 47, 51, 56 and to 70 mm from our stock.
Cobalt-Chromium offers a very good friction coefficient after polishing and is thus well adapted to joint implants (hip, knee, shoulder). It is for instance used for the manufacturing of femoral prosthesis heads (friction in polyethylene cupules), either directly machined out of bars or by forging and machining of bars.
For the same reason, it is also being used for precision castings – knee prosthesis – in a slightly different grade, conform to ISO 5832-4 and ASTM F75.
